Somehow the Crackdown series hasn’t been killed by the abomination which was, Crackdown 0.5 or Crackdown 2 as it’s otherwise known. Speaking to IGN, Microsoft Game Studios vice president Phil Spencer has all but confirmed that there will be a Crackdown 3 and has justified its absence from both the Xbox One’s May reveal and their e3 conference.
Eagle eyed viewers may have noticed this in the back of the May Xbox One reveal.
When pressed about the matter, he didn’t exactly quell the speculation.
“No, I don’t think Crackdown is dead at all,” he said. “It’s a franchise that’s still close to me. I think there’s a lot of room, especially… For me, the natural progression for a game like Crackdown – and you see this showing up on our stage – is in these living, open worlds that live in the cloud.”
Once again mentioning the cloud, the current buzz word at the top of Microsoft’s ‘Words you MUST use when speaking to the media’ PR list.
It looks promising that Crackdown 3 will announced soon, but with Saints Row taking the gap in the market for the completely over the top sandbox do whatever the fuck you want kinda game, I’m interested to what they’ll bring to the table.
