Microsoft have confirmed that after a massive backlash from the community that past policies will no longer be accurate. An announcement posted on their official blog said:

“As a result of feedback from the Xbox community, we have changed certain policies for Xbox One,” They also added that past policies are “no longer accurate”

It has been confirmed that the the Xbox One will allow used games, it won’t be region locked, it will not require an internet connection once every 24 hours and lending a game will be as easy as passing it over to a friend. Congratulations Microsoft! Now about that price…

As a community we have shown that we are in charge. We as a community, first with Sony and now with Microsoft, have shown that we can make a difference and we will be listened to if we raise our voices loud enough.

Great news for the industry and vindication for the impressive online activism from the gaming community. I’m looking forward to hearing more about app development and exclusive games from Microsoft over the next few months without the huge shadow of an unnecessary DRM policy.
